Understand methods of professional development and training

Good Morning year 12

Well this is it your last PASS task before you tackle the bigger MERIT & DISTINCTION work.

P6 requires you to discuss methods of continuing professional development and training in relation to your career plan

In relation to the career development plan that you have created you now need to identify appropriate methods of ongoing development suitable to you and your career once you have secured your fist job role so for most this will be in five years time and after university. Research what each of them are and explain how you will use six of them to meet the future needs of your career development.  In a nutshell these can be broken into:

• Induction training
• ON THE JOB training and 
• OFF THE JOB training 
• Graduate training programmes
• Management education at such places like Brethay, Chartridge or Henley Business School
• Project work
• Secondments
• Coaching and Mentoring
• Job Shadowing
• e-learning
• Vocational and professional courses
• Job rotation
• Retraining
• Continuing professional development
• Lifelong learning

This list is not exhaustive but will give you some ideas to research and some things to think about.  If you find any interesting facts or figures or evidence to support how effective this type of professional development or training is then feel free to include it.
